Award-Winning Guitarists to Perform at Moravian College

Duo Melis concert part of Bethlehem Guitar Festival

Duo MelisBethlehem, Pa., May 18, 2010—Duo Melis will perform a concert titled One Sound, One Melody, One Perfect Unity at Moravian College on Saturday, June 5 at 8:00 p.m. in Peter Hall.  This special presentation is being held in conjunction with the Bethlehem Guitar Festival.

Multi-award winning, multi-cultural guitar Duo Melis made their debut in 1999 at the International Guitar Festival of Volos in Greece. Spanish Susana Prieto and Greek Alexis Muzurakis, currently teaching at Conservatoire de Strasbourg in France, have a wide repertory, from Baroque music to the music of Piazzolla and Ginastera. The Duo has won numerous prizes, both individually and together, and has collaborated with international orchestras like the Berliner Symphonikerand the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie. They have been invited to play concerts and give master classes in international guitar festivals throughout Europe and America. Duo Melis is presently focusing on historical research of music and performance practice of the 19th Century.
