Fleetwood Area High School Wins Regional Science Competition at Moravian College

Kutztown Area Middle School is first among middle schools

Bethlehem, Pa., March 17, 2006—Fleetwood Area High School edged out Kutztown Area High School to take top honors in the regional Science Olympiad among participating area (Division C) high schools and Kutztown Area Middle School outpaced the participating middle schools.

More than 500 students representing 47 junior/middle and senior high schools competed at Moravian College in a regional Science Olympiad on Friday, March 17, 2006. The top four finishers among high schools and middle schools will go on to the state competition.

Joining Fleetwood Area High School at the state competition will be Kutztown Area High School which finished second, followed by Allentown Central Catholic High School in third place, and Wilson Area High School in fourth place.

Middle schools heading to the state competition include Kutztown Middle School which finished first, Fleetwood Middle School in second place. Rounding out the middle schools moving on the state competition are East Hills Middle School (Bethlehem) in third, and Exeter Township Middle School in fourth.

Science Olympiad is an academic, interscholastic event culminating in regional, state, and national tournaments, designed to increase student interest in science, recognize outstanding student/teacher achievement, and improve the quality of science education.
