Moravian College Theatre Company Presents Hermann Gressieker’s Royal Gambit

Bethlehem, Pa., February 3, 2005—The Moravian College Theatre Company will present four performances of Hermann Gressieker’s historical drama of Henry VIII of England, translated by George White. Royal Gambit will be performed in the Arena Theatre at Moravian College on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 17th through the 19th at 8 p.m., with one matinee on Sunday, February 20th at 2 p.m.

Royal Gambit is an historical drama of Henry VIII and his six wives. His machinations to realize a male heir, his insatiable appetites, and his overweening ego function as catalysts for political change and the evolution of social thought and history in the Western world. The triumph of materialism and economics at the cost of faith and morality is a key issue as Henry and his “progress” take stage against the values of the Old world.

The cast features Patti Colelli, Julia Gasdaska, Jennifer Kahl, Michael McCartney, Christine Roach, Kelly Steward, and Katie Suib. Jack Ramsey directs the production, with set design by Robert Pepper, lighting design by Kathryn T. Cort, costumes by Pierre’s of Philadelphia and William F. Bauman, and Adam Spaugh as stage manager.

Tickets are $13 for general admission and $9 for seniors and students. For further information or ticket reservations, call 610-861-1489.
