Bethlehem, Pa., January 6, 2011—Students buying books for the spring semester at Moravian will have the option of renting some of their books thanks to a new pilot program the College is testing. In an ongoing effort to keep textbooks affordable, the College Bookstore will offer a textbook rentals on a limited basis. Textbooks that have been selected as part of the program may be rented at a reduced cost and simply returned to the Bookstore at the end of the semester.
“If students find value in this rental program, the College will expand it to offer many more titles in the fall,” said Sandy Giordano, director of Moravian College Bookstore Giordano. “The new program, combined with the discount associated with the textbook reservation program and the increased availability of used books, will help lower the overall cost of textbooks for Moravian students.”
Giordano explains how the program will work for the spring semester, “Students who use inSite (point of sale contractor) to pay for their books online will be able to see which are available this semester as rentals. When they log-in and access their course schedules that identifies the books they will need, they will have rental as a choice next to new and used. If no rental choice is shown, that book is not available at the time as a rental. The same books that are part of the program are available in the College Bookstore and are marked as rentals.”
