Bethlehem, Pa., January 24, 2011--The Career Center at Moravian College will implement a variety of programs throughout the semester to help students prepare for life after graduation, find jobs, internships, and get into graduate school. The programs are part of the College's efforts to help students build a foundation for their future by being more prepared to enter the world of work in a difficult economy.
On Tuesday, February 1 Joe Hernandez of Mars Chocolate, will present "How to Work a Career Fair" at 11:45 a.m. PPHAC room 117. This presentation will prepare students for any and all career fairs they may be attending.
The series continues on Thursday, February 10 with "How to Land a Job in a Tough Market- START EARLY" at 11:45 a.m. in PPHAC 116. The purpose of this program is to teach successful strategies to help students navigate through the current tough job market. The Career Center offers concrete steps to take. As a plus, this is the perfect time to activate your required Career Hound account so you can search for and apply to jobs and internships.
On Tuesday, February 15 Jackie and Jon Kozakis of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network will discuss opportunities within NMFN in "A Day in the Life of a Financial Planner" in PPHAC 117 at 11:45 a.m.
The 2011 Lehigh Valley Collegiate Career Expo will be held on Wednesday, February 16 beginning at noon at the Holiday Inn in Fogelsville. Bring your newly updated resume and your professional, can do attitude and join over 100 employers at the annual LVCCE. The Graduate & Professional School Information Session will be held in PPHAC 116 on Thursday, February 24 at 11:45 a.m. This event will provide information on steps to take for those searching for graduate and professional schools. Students will be walked through how to figure out what is the right school for them, how to apply, how to pay for school, and writing the perfect personal statement.
The Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth will be having a Lunch & Learn Wednesday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m. in the UBC room of the HUB. Come to learn more about the opportunities that are available on-campus during the summer through the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.
On Friday, March 25 at 9:00 a.m.the Career Center will be having a Mock Interview Day. Students can come to the Career Center, 1305 Main St., to participate in a mock interview with an industry professional and get valuable feedback as they prepare to start the internship/job search. Pre-registration is required, deadline for sign-ups is March 15th by calling The Career Center at 610-861-1509.
The last scheduled event is the "Better Late than Never Workshop for Seniors." On Thursday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. in PPHAC 116, seniors can come to this last chance workshop to learn what they can do as they leave Moravian and begin their job search. This session will provide all the last minute information they need.
The Career Center will also be having two Resume Marathons this semester. They will be held on Thursday, February 3 and Thursday, April 7 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Students can drop by any time for an on the spot resume critique and approval for Career Hound postings.
