Bethlehem, Pa., February 23, 2011 -- Stephen J. Jones, a senior vice president and general manager of Tonnage Gases, Equipment and Energy at Air Products, will chair the President's Advisory Council at Moravian College. Jones agreed to succeed Elmer Gates who previously served as chair and helped originate the group over a year ago. The council is comprised of leading business executives who meet to talk with President Christopher M. Thomforde on strengthening Moravian College's presence in the business community in the Lehigh Valley.
"I am delighted to chair the Moravian College President's Advisory Council," said Jones. "I believe that President Thomforde and the entire Moravian College community are creating an environment that allows students to reach their full potential as individuals while benefiting from a supportive learning community. Stephen J. Jones was appointed senior vice president and general manager, Tonnage Gases, Equipment and Energy, in April 2009. He is responsible for developing and implementing strategy for Air Products' global tonnage, equipment and energy businesses. In addition, Mr. Jones assumed leadership responsibility for the company's Technology and Environment, Health, Safety and Quality organizations in February 2010. Other members of the council include Jan Heller, regional president, Wachovia Banking; David Lobach, Jr. chairman and CEO, Embassy Bank for the Lehigh Valley; Mike Gausling, managing partner, Originate Ventures; James Miller, chairman, president, CEO, PPL; Ken Rampolla, owner of RMI and a Moravian College Trustee; and Elmer Gates, lead director, Embassy Bank, who remains as a member of the council.
