Bethlehem, Pa. February 14, 2012--Reverend Jesse Jackson visited Moravian today for a discussion focusing on issues of poverty and inequality. More than 900 members of the Moravian community and the public attended the hour and half question and answer program in Johnston Hall. The program moderators kept the discussion lively. They included Dr. Grace Ji-Sun Kim, associate professor of doctrinal theology, Moravian Theological Seminary, and Dr. James Braxton Peterson, director of Africana Studies and associate professor of English at Lehigh University. They were joined by a guest moderator and friend of Rev. Jackson, Dr. Obery Hendricks , visiting scholar, Institute for Research in African-American Studies and Department of Religion, Columbia University.
Toward the end of Q&A with members of the audience, Larry Holmes, former heavyweight boxing champion made a surprise visit and joined Rev. Jackson on stage. The two later recessed in the College's green room where Holmes spoke with Jackson for his TV-2 program.
