Reapplying for Aid 2015-2016
Information for Current Day Students

This information is provided to assist returning students in applying for financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans and work-study for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Begin completing the required forms listed below as soon as possible. The success of the financial aid process depends upon the student and parent(s) communicating and working together in a timely manner.

You may expect to receive your financial aid notification in June if you have submitted all requested items by April 15th. Students submitting applications after the April 15th deadline may have their financial aid reduced based on the availability of funds.

  1. FAFSA – the Free Application for Federal Student Aid must be submitted to receive consideration for all federal, most state, and any Moravian College need-based financial aid. The FAFSA is available January 1, 2015 and must be completed by April 15, 2015. The FAFSA is signed electronically using both the student’s and parent’s federal PIN.
     
  2. MORAVIAN COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION: Complete and submit the signed application by April 15, 2015. The application may be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by mail at 1200 Main Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, by fax to 610-861-1346, or by email to finaid@moravian.edu.

Any additional items required by the Financial Aid Office will be specifically requested. Your prompt response will allow your financial aid to be processed as quickly as possible.

If you complete the FAFSA prior to filing 2014 federal income tax returns, the FAFSA must be updated with actual figures once the returns are filed. The IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) allows you to easily transfer your tax return information into the FAFSA. The DRT can be accessed 2 to 3 weeks after electronically filing your taxes. Allow 6 to 8 weeks if you mail your tax returns to the IRS. Click here  to view instructions for using the DRT.

Pennsylvania State Grant Eligibility (determined by PHEAA, Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency) To be considered for a Pennsylvania State Grant you must be a resident of Pennsylvania and file a FAFSA by May 1, 2015. Please note that those who submit the application after the May 1 deadline may be rejected for state grant funds.

Other State Grant Eligibility (each state varies in its application requirements and deadlines) To be considered for your state’s grant please refer to the FAFSA application, check with your high school guidance office or contact your state’s Department of Education.

 

Academic Standards - You must maintain minimum qualitative and quantitative academic standards to remain eligible for financial aid. Please review the Academic Progress policy that can be found in the 2015-2016 Financial Aid Handbook, the College Catalog, and the Student Handbook. Additionally, annual renewal of merit scholarships is contingent upon maintaining a specified quality point average (QPA). The minimum required QPA can be found in the Financial Aid Handbook and was also provided to you when you were awarded the scholarship. Academic standards are reviewed each year at the end of the spring term.
