Season 2 Winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”
Bethlehem, Pa., March 15, 2005—Comedian John Heffron will perform at Moravian College on Friday, April 8, at 8:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall. Heffron rose to fame when he won NBC’s Emmy-nominated series ”Last Comic Standing” title in Season 2 and finished as a finalist in Season 3.
Heffron began his comedy career while a student at Eastern Michigan University. He skipped night classes to perform at comedy clubs, eventually landing a gig as emcee at the University of Michigan’s Main Street Comedy Showcase. After graduation, he jumped right into comedy, performing at more than 80 colleges a year. His brand of humor hit home with his young audience, and he was able to release his first CD “Kid with a Cape.” At age 25, he became the radio sidekick of Danny Bonaduce on a Detroit morning show. He worked in that capacity for five years before returning to Los Angeles.
As a live performer, Heffron has appeared at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, and the HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen, Colorado. His TV credits in addition to “Last Comic Standing,” include “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” and his own half-hour "Comedy Central Presents" special. Last year, he landed the lead role in the VH-1 sitcom, "Smash,” which was created by one of Heffron’s favorite musicians, Gene Simmons of Kiss. He also recently released his second comedy CD “Good Kid, Bad Adult.” In June, he will begin shooting “Comic House” for NBC. A third CD is also in Heffron’s plans for the near future.
