Moravian’s Bookstore Now a Barnes & Noble College Enterprise
Bethlehem, Pa., August 21, 2012—Anyone visiting the bookstore this summer has witnessed some extensive changes. In addition to a new layout and new merchandise, the store has also come under new management—Barnes & Noble College has been selected to operate Moravian’s bookstore. The store will still offer textbooks, course materials, Moravian clothing, supplies and gifts, and other items, but some innovative services will also be introduced this semester.
- Students will now have the option to rent textbooks online or in the store, saving more than 50 percent over the cost of a new, printed book. Rentals can be paid for using cash or credit.
- Textbooks also will be offered through Barnes & Noble’s free “Nook Study” application, which allows PC and MAC users to access and read Barnes & Noble’s eTextbooks.
- Students will be offered the opportunity to sell certain textbooks back to the store and will be eligible for a 50 percent cash payout, up to needed inventories.
- Immediately after registering online, students will now be able to reserve and order textbooks, automatically populating their shopping carts with the right books for the right classes, making the purchasing process more convenient than before.
“These changes have provided us the opportunity to increase rentals, and if students are still looking for cost-saving options, e-books are available,” says Kari Jackson, bookstore manager. “In addition to textbooks, our bookstore is newly remodeled and we are getting in new merchandise every week, including items that had been on the suggestion board last year. All ideas are welcome, and we will do our best to meet those suggestions.”
Moravian College is now one of 61 colleges and universities that Barnes & Noble College partners with in the state, including the University of Pennsylvania, Penn State and Drexel University. Visit the website for news and information about Moravian's new bookstore.
