Moravian Choir to Perform Haydn’s The Creation – April 16, 17

Bethlehem, Pa., March 31, 2005—The Moravian College Concert Choir along with members of the Pennsylvania Sinfonia will perform Franz Josef Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, popularly known in America as The Creation, on April 16 at 8:00 pm and April 17 at 4:00 pm. Both performances will take place at the college’s Foy Concert Hall on the Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus, located at the corner of Main Street and Church Street in Bethlehem. General admission is $12, with a reduced rate of $6 for students and senior citizens. For more information, call 610-861-1650.

The Moravian College Concert Choir is conducted by Dr. Paula Ring Zerkle, associate professor and chair of the Moravian College Music Department. She is also Moravian’s Director of Choral Music. The Moravian College Concert Choir consists of 64 members, including both students and members of the community.

Joining the choir for this performance are guest soloists Patricia Koch singing soprano, Harold Brock singing tenor, and Scott Uddenberg singing bass. They will sing the roles of Adam and Eve and the archangels. The Creation is a German translation of passages from the biblical book of Genesis and John Milton’s Paradise Lost.
