Moravian College Alumnus in Winner’s Circle on Jeopardy!

Noah RachelsBethlehem, Pa., December 7, 2012 –Moravian College alumnus Noah Rachels ’00 was in the winner’s circle on the ABC television quiz show Jeopardy! on Thursday, December 6. Rachels, a resident of Astoria, Queens in New York City, will compete again this evening.

A music major at Moravian, Rachels also knows his geography. He nailed the final jeopardy question in the category “World Geography.” The question was “Though it consists entirely of islands, this populous country borders 3 other nations”, and “this Caribbean nation flies La Estrella Solitaria, “The Solitary Star.’” Rachels answered correctly, Cuba and ended the show with $15,099 in winnings.

“It is really exciting to see a friend and former classmate competing on Jeopardy,” said Lauren Nicholas ’01. “It was just as much fun watching the show and tweeting and posting Facebook updates with fellow alumni in real time during the program. I was pleased to see Moravian faculty members and alumni rallying around him and cheering him on through social media. We are definitely tuning in to watch again tonight.”
