Moravian Adds Accelerated Program in Nursing for College Graduates

Students can earn a B.S. degree in nursing in 16 months

Nursing ProgramBethlehem, Pa., September 12, 2013—Students with a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing major can now earn a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing through a new 16-month accelerated program at Moravian College.

“The program features the same depth and breadth of nursing classroom, laboratory, and clinical coursework that students benefit from in the traditional pre-licensure baccalaureate (B.S.) program, but offered over a condensed time frame,” said Kerry Cheever, professor and chair of the Nursing Department at Moravian College. “Students develop clinical decision-making skills to meet contemporary challenges in a complicated health-care system.”

Given the rigorous nature of this program, students are encouraged to focus full-time on their studies. Students may be eligible for federal loans or other forms of loans or scholarships. Upon acceptance into the program, applicants may receive counseling from the Financial Aid Office.

“Students will enroll in this program in a cohort model. They will take all of their coursework together, and not with traditional Moravian College students,” Cheever noted. “This will give students in this program the opportunity work together, form study groups, and socialize with each other during the limited break periods between academic sessions.”

Students in this program may request housing in the HILL, Moravian’s newest residence hall. Students in this program will be housed in suites together, and have the option of participating in a meal plan.

In addition to the accelerated B.S. program in nursing for college graduates, the Moravian College Department of Nursing offers: traditional pre-licensure baccalaureate (B.S.) program, baccalaureate completion program for registered nurses (R.N. to B.S.), and the Master of Science (M.S.) program in nursing.

Moravian College invites students to be part of a growing network nurse alumni employed as nurse managers, staff nurses, nursing directors, nurse researchers, clinical nurse leaders, nurse practitioners, and nurse anesthetists, to name a few, who are making a positive difference in the health of the communities they serve.
