Moravian College Art Student Earns Scholarship for Study in Italy

(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) – Moravian College junior Michelle Lala (New Hope, PA) was awarded a scholarship for the spring 2004 semester from Studio Art Centers International (SACI) in Florence, Italy. Lala was selected from a very competitive pool of applicants and received a $1,750 award in recognition of the high quality of her prior artistic and academic achievements.

“Not only does this scholarship award recognize Michelle’s achievements, it reflects the high caliber of instruction offered by the art program at Moravian College,” said Maria Trotta, manager of admissions, Studio Arts Centers International.

SACI was founded in 1975 to create a program in Florence for students seeking excellence in studio art and liberal arts study at the United States university level. In 1999, SACI acquired its permanent home, the Palazzo dei Cartelloni, a Renaissance building in the center of Florence, Italy.
