College celebrates “all-Steinway” piano status and important anniversaries
(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) The Moravian College Music Department will host a series of special open-to-the-public events on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 from 11a.m. to 9 p.m., in recognition of the donors who have contributed to the College’s standing as an ALL-STEINWAY piano institution, as well as the 25th Anniversary of the renovations to Peter Hall and the 15th Anniversary of the Music Alliance.
The Open House Celebration will begin with a ceremony at 11 a.m. and end with an 8 p.m. faculty/student recital and reception. Events in Peter Hall include 20th Century class presentations by students of Dr. Larry Lipkis, professor of music and composer–in-residence at the College. Dr. Barbara Liebhaber’s students will present an analysis of music a la Howard Cosell, and 19th Century class performances will be presented by students of Dr. Hilde Binford, followed by an historic Tea in Hearst Hall. The College Choir under the direction of Dr. Paula Zerkle will present a concert of music and thanks.
The international music fraternity, Delta Omicron will conduct guests to view the new pianos, and to tour the 4th and 5th floors and basement of the music complex. A luncheon in Clewell Dining Hall is planned to provide an opportunity to mingle with student musicians.
The evening will conclude with a pre-concert lecture and presentation of thank you awards, followed by a recital and reception in Peter Hall. The program will be held at the Priscilla Payne Hurd Complex of Moravian College, Main and Church Streets, Bethlehem, PA
