He is a member of the Faith Advisory Council of the Democratic National Committee and has been featured on C-SPAN, PBS, National Public Radio, al-Jazeera Television, NHK Japan Television, Air-America, Radio One, and Fox News. “Politics and the Role of Hip-Hop Activism”

A black Puerto Rican scholar, activist, and journalist, Clemente has dedicated her academic work to researching national liberation struggles inside the US, with a specific focus on the Young Lords Party and the Black Liberation Army. While a student at SUNY Albany, she was President of the Albany State University Black Alliance and Director of Multicultural Affairs for the Student Association. At Cornell University, she was a founding member of La Voz Boriken, a social/political organization dedicated to supporting Puerto Rican political prisoners and the independence of Puerto Rico. One of America’s most influential scholars, Marable has been professor of Public Affairs, Political Science, History and African-American Studies at Columbia University in New York City, since 1993 Marable was a founding director of the Institute for Research in African-American Studies at Columbia University. A prolific author, Marable has written over 275 articles in academic journals and edited volumes. He has written and/or edited 21 books and scholarly anthologies. Marable’s talk is cosponsored by LVAIC Minority Affairs Coalition. More....
