The Parents Fund is a crucial component of the College’s Annual Fund. The fund
is established for parents to support the College’s current students, just like their
own! Support to the Parents Fund provides a significant portion to Moravian’s
operating budget that sustains and replenishes the College on an annual basis. With
tuition and fees only covering about 85% of the costs to fully educate our students, the Parents
Fund is crucial in helping bridge that gap.
With an overall unrestricted Annual Fund goal of $1,000,000, we are looking for $70,000 of
that to come from parents. To put it into simpler terms, if a Parents Fund gift is made
for every one of our current students, this would be an average gift of $46. $46 is
one nice dinner out on the town. If we all sacrificed one nice dinner out for one gift
to the 2006-2007 Parents Fund, the end result would be the best opportunities and educational
experiences our students can have.
In its first year of existence, the Parents Council is a prestigious circle of parents that give
both their time and support through leadership gifts and participation. We meet on campus twice
a year for an up-close look into important campus issues. Our hope through the Parents Council is to better
connect the College with its parents, and to keep parents better involved. Membership into
the council begins with a minimum donation of $1,000 to the Parents Fund and includes many opportunities
such as welcoming parents of recently accepted freshmen through phone calls and writing individual
testimonials in parent newsletters. Parents Council members serve as vocal advocates for the College and
serve as liaisons between the College and other parents.
