  • As a junior in 1950, he led the Ivy League in pass completion percentage
  • Had a combined record of 13-5 as the starting quarterback for the Big Red (1950-51)
  • He currently holds two passing records at Cornell University.
    1. Most yards gained per attempt in a career: 8.2 (1950-51, 171/1405)
    2. Most yards gained per completion in a career: 15.8 (1950-51, 89-1405)
  • Ranks 11th all-time in passing efficiency at Cornell with a rating of 118.0 (1950)
  • Rocco Calvo’s pass to Stu Merz (Cornell v Yale, 1951) for 90 yards is listed as one of the greatest plays in the history of Ivy League football. Rocco threw for 240 yards that day, a record that stood for 16 years.
  • Took part in “The Hurricane Game” in 1950 at Franklin Field versus The University of Pennsylvania. 50,000 tickets were sold but only 17,000 showed up. The Big Red won the game 13-6.
  • In 1951 Rocco helped defeat Michigan 20-7 in front of the largest crowd in Schoelkopf Stadium history (35,300)
