I had such a fun weekend! To start, it was President Thomforde’s Inauguration Weekend and it was such a great time! First off, it was such great weather! We had really cold days for a while, so I was a little scared that the weekend wasn’t going to be nice, but it was beautiful! The weekend started off with a parade down Main Street. We lined up at 6:00 and there were so many of us! They had almost every organization on campus participate. This was the one thing that President Thomforde wanted the most and I’m so happy that so many people were apart of it! He’s a really great guy and he deserved this weekend! Our parade went all the way down to South Campus and everyone circled back to North Campus for a barbeque. Later, the night ended with a fireworks display that was probably the best I had ever seen! It definitely would’ve given any Fourth of July’s display a run for its money! After the fireworks, I went out with my friend Tyler to the movies. We went and saw “Vacancy” and it was incredibly scary! I am usually not one for scary movies; I think I’ve seen three before in my life, making this one the fourth. I am easily scared and actually have never been in a haunted house my entire life because my fear is that great. We went to see this movie and I’ll admit that I was a little nervous about it. We were surprised when we got there because we were the only ones in the whole theater and it was a Friday night! A few more people ended up coming in as the movie started. Even though it was the scariest movie I had ever seen, it was actually really good. There are only 5 characters in the whole movie and you leave the movie a little shaky and with the hair on the back of your neck and on your arms standing straight up. The girls that sat behind us kicked our seats every time they got scared (which was a lot) and that just made things more scary for me because it was a shock after the scary moment in the movie!
On Saturday, my sorority had its spring formal. It was so much fun! I went stag, but my best friends were all there, so it was fine! A lot of the girls went by themselves. This isn’t such a big event that you can’t go by yourself. It was at Iron Lakes Country Club, which is a little shady, but we had a lot of fun. The only thing that stunk was that the bus service. There were two bus runs, and the second one, which I was on, didn’t get there until 9:00. By the time dinner and the awards were done and we could get started on the dancing, it was 10:00! However, we definitely took full advantage of the next two hours. The pledge class from formal rush did a dance together to “Fergalicious” and it was so good! One of the “families” in the sorority also did a dance to “Thriller.” Everyone had a really great time. I always get sad when it ends because it always seems to have gone by too fast.
I can’t wait for this week to be over because then I’m basically done, besides one final. I really hope to get out to Philly to visit one of my good friends, Bennett. He lives with three other guys I’m friends with from high school, and they all go to Temple, where practically half of my graduating class goes to. I love going out there because Bennett and I like to spend most of our day sitting on the bell tower in the middle of campus, watching all the people go by. The last time I went out was a while ago, back in November, but we sat there for the afternoon and actually saw a lot of people from high school there. It’s always interesting to just sit in a public place and watch the different people that will pass by. I’m hoping to spend at least a day out there and visit with some people I haven’t seen in a while. It will be refreshing!
Enjoy the beautiful weather! I’m so happy it’s been nice the past few days! It finally feels like spring!
