The end has finally come!

April 24, 2007

The end has finally come! The year is winding down and as I finish up the last week of my freshman year here at Moravian I can’t help wondering where the time went. It’s been quite a year with lots of ups and downs. I’ve made lots of friends a few enemies but overall I have to say that I’m glad I chose to come to Moravian. I cannot wait for the year to be over but I’m really excited for the new school year to start and to get to meet all of the new Moravian students.

At the end of last week I officially became a brother of Delta Tau Delta. I have to say that looking back on all of rush and pledging it was tough but it was definitely worth it. Being a brother really feels good and I look forward to all the stuff that we’ll do next year. My first activity as a brother was the inaugural parade for President Thomforde. A few of the brothers and I walked for the Delt which was cool. Afterwards me, Chris, and Kip went to the beach. The beach was loads of fun and we got to meet some really cool new people. I’m also excited about living in the Delt house next year; it should be lots of fun, I can’t wait. Besides going to the beach, this week there was a Christian Fellowship picnic for the all of the senior members. It was very nice to have an event commemorating all of the seniors who have gave a lot to the Christian Fellowship. They’ve done a lot of things for the club and it was great to see them are getting recognized for their hard work.

Speaking of Delta Tau Delta, this week is Greek Week. Greek Week is a special week for all of the members of Delt, ZTA, ASA, AST, Sigma, and SigEp. The way I understand it is during Greek Week all of the fraternities and sororities compete against each other in a series of games and sports. I’m not planning on competing in any events but that could certainly change. I’m pretty content on just cheering on the rest of the brothers who are competing. I’m sure we’ll end up winning the most events. In addition to competing there are also a lot of awards given out for a number of different categories. These categories include philanthropy, Greek spirit, outstanding senior, best new member, and most gold star events. I really hope that I win an award.

The rest of the week should be really hard because I have to finish up a lot of things before classes end. I have two papers due for my writing class and an assignment to do for music theory. Although I have lots things to do this week, I am getting off pretty easily because I get to leave early. I don’t have any finals that I have to take at school so I can leave after classes end. That means by Sunday I’ll be at home relaxing with not a care in the world. The only stuff that I have to stay for is the formal for Delta Tau Delta. The formal is pretty much a formal dance party for all of the brothers and their dates. It should be a really fun party.

This year has been awesome and its been an honor for me to be able to tell all of you about it. I hope all of you out there get a chance to experience some of the great times that I have over the course of the year. One tip I’d like to give you guys would be to get out there and get involved. I’m not just saying do lots of community service and join tons of clubs (I certainly haven’t done those things) but, its important that you make as many friends as you can and make the most of college. So I guess for the last time this Rey and your reyality has just been checked.
