Professor Dennis Glew Receives Citation from State Rep. Freeman
Dennis Glew, who retired this semester after 40 years as a professor of classics and history at Moravian College, was honored for his service by the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives at a ceremony held in Comenius Hall, May 28.
State Representative Robert Freeman '78 presented Professor Glew with an official citation. A large portrait, which will be displayed in Comenius Hall with other faculty portraits, also was unveiled. Professor Heikki Lempa, chair of the History Department, and other faculty colleagues contributed remarks, paying tribute to Dr. Glew.
"To come to Moravian and learn from such distinguished scholars as Dennis Glew, who knew how to make history come alive—expanding our scope and understanding of history—was a wonderful experience for me," said Representative Freeman, who studied at Moravian from 1975-78. "Dennis and all of the professors I had here were not only scholars, but also good teachers—the two do not always come together. We were fortunate to have both in our teachers at Moravian."
"I've said my students are my legacy. And I'm glad to see it's paying off," said Professor Glew, with a smile.
