Alumni Connection International travel offers exciting learning opportunities; the chance to sample the arts and cuisine of another culture;
and unforgettable times with family and friends. This year, Moravian alumni are invited to join the Moravian family of students and faculty members for several incredible
trips abroad.
November 29-December 10 A Moravian delegation will return to serve as an official observer to the United Nations Climate Conference, this time in Cancun, Mexico. (A Moravian delegation, which included several alumni, attended the December 2009 Copenhagen meeting.) Alumni may apply for one of six available alumni positions, joining students, faculty, and staff in Cancun for COP 16 (Conference of the parties). $850 fee for shared hotel room 12/2-12/11; airfare and meals extra. Diane Husic, chair of the Department of Biological Sciences, and Hilde Binford, associate professor of music, will co-lead. Registration requested by Sept. 15. A scientific paper by Casey S. Jackson '08 was published recently. "Iron-binding and mobilization from ferritin by polypyridyl ligands," co-authored by Casey S. Jackson and Jeremy J. Kodanko, appears in Metallomics, a new journal covering the research fields related to biometals. Jackson is working toward his Ph.D. under Kodanko at Wayne State University. Their research focuses on investigating the effects of these molecules in live cells.
