Film by Santo Marabella Demonstrates Creative Marketing

A new film written and produced by Santo D. Marabella, professor of business management, puts a creative spin on a film about economic development. Location, Location, an independent film produced by the Greater Reading Film Commission, promotes the locations, talent, and production resources in the Greater Reading region. The film's main character, cynical Hollywood director Conrad Evans, reluctantly takes a trolley tour of Reading, Pa., the last stop on his scouting tour of small cities and towns for future films. He finds the town's community pride, quirky characters, and awesome locations just what he needs to create the perfect picture.

Location, Location, the first film that Dr. Marabella has written and produced, was 18 months in the making. At its October 3 debut in Reading, the film drew an audience of more than 350, requiring a second showing. "We definitely got the reaction I was hoping for," said Professor Marabella, who chairs the Greater Reading Film Commission. "People commented that they had never seen Reading this way before. The real test will be whether it can generate the business we want."

The 18-minute Location, Location has been submitted to independent film festivals, such as Sundance, South by Southwest, LA Shorts, and the Tribeca Film Festival. It will be shown at Moravian College October 26 at 7 p.m. in Prosser, as part of the Movies on Monocacy film series, sponsored by the HUB and Arts & Lectures. Professor Marabella will introduce the film, and will participate in a "talk back" with actors and crew after the showing.

Professor Marabella uses the arts and entertainment as a vehicle for teaching business management in the classroom.
