Celebrate National Long-Term Care Awareness Month

Nearly two-thirds of Americans over age 65 will need long-term care at home, through adult daycare, via care in an assisted living facility, or in a nursing home. November is National Long-Term Care Awareness Month, so it's the perfect time to investigate your options.

Because changes in health and age can impact the cost of Long-Term Care insurance, it's smart to consider coverage sooner rather than later. Even changes that aren't life-threatening can still be life altering.  LTC insurance can be far more affordable than most people think, but a change in your health can also make it impossible to obtain coverage—at any price.

If you start the process before your next birthday (even if you’re in your 40s!), you'll lock in rates at a lower age—which can save you thousands of dollars over the life of a policy. An early start also means more years of coverage. Care can be provided in many settings, including nursing homes, your own home, assisted living facilities, and adult day care.

LTC insurance is available through the Alumni Insurance Program, and is more affordable than you may think. When you contact our program advisors, they will analyze over 20 different plans from eight of the nation's leading long-term care providers to help find the policy that's right for you—free of charge.
