Tierney Lyons, reference/serials librarian, competed in the Dublin (Ireland) City Marathon on October 29 to raise funds for the Arthritis Foundation. It was her first marathon, and she trained for four months to be able to run its 26.2 miles. She raised $4,000 for arthritis research.
John D. Rossi III, assistant professor of accounting, spoke on SAB-101 Revenue Recognition Rules at the 2001 Accounting and Auditing Conference sponsored by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. It was held December 7 in Valley Forge.
Joseph M. Shosh, instructor of education, received his Ph.D. in English education from New York University in December.
Cas Sowa, director of international studies, participated in a panel on The Global Reach: Trends in International Student Marketing at the Pennsylvania Council of International Education annual conference, November 27-29 in Harrisburg.
Michael Wilson, director of public relations, won the Coalition for a Smoke-Free Valleys Advocacy Award at the groups annual dinner, December 11 in Bethlehem. Wilson is a committed letter-writer on tobacco issues to legislators and public health officials.
