Batteries Not Included

Whether they’re little AAA fellows the size of earrings or thick-waisted D types bigger than votive candles, the same thing happens to all batteries when they run out of juice.

They turn into little time-release arsenals of leftover acid that, eventually, saturates the shiny cardboard tube and leaks into the environment, to deleterious effect.

The Environmental Coalition would like to interrupt this chemical equation by collecting dead batteries and disposing of them in a safe manner. You can drop yours off at the HUB desk at any time.

Btw, you can learn a lot about the batteries for your laptop computer and other electronic devices—chemistry, lifespan, usage—from a Web site called ebatts.com.
