$upporting Lacrosse

Men’s lacrosse is raising money, along with every team on campus, it seems.

Like the women’s lacrosse team, the men are going on a training trip to Florida at spring break. To help cover costs, they’re selling inaugural season T-shirts (“Sure to be a collector’s item,” says coach Fran Meagher) and big umbrellas—good for watching outdoor sports, such as men’s lacrosse, says the same encouraging source. The T-shirts are $10, the umbrellas $20. Ext. 1513.

Starting March 7, the team will work out of the Seminole County Training Center at Sylvan Lake Park, Sanford. The center and nearby fields were built for the U.S. women’s soccer team to prepare for international competition, and they are first-rate and underused.

Fran says the team will have multiple daily practices and a scrimmage, then will play two games in North Carolina on the way home: Mars Hill College, March 12, and Franklin Pierce College, March 14.

“A training trip during spring break is vital to our preparation for the season, which will begin in earnest on March 17, when we travel to Muhlenberg,” he says.
