New Old Stuff

Our busy archivist, John Weeren, has set up a display of seven additions to the Moravian College Archives in a case on the main floor of Reeves Library. They include:

• The photograph album compiled by William Gerdsen ’30 between 1927 and 1929. Gift of Gilbert Swift.

• Invoice for first-term tuition plus chemistry laboratory fee, 1931, paid by Francis Osterstock ’35. Gift of Paige Yoder ’81.

• Photograph of the Moravian College Band, c. 1926, whose ranks included Allen ’23, ’25 (B.D.) and Douglas Schattschneider ’26, ’28 (B.D.), father and uncle of David Schattschneider ’60, who donated it.

The Comenian (1957-58), published during the editorship of Roy Goshorn ’58, who donated it.

• Brochure from Moravian College for Women, 1939, kept by Margaret Hastings ’39. Gift of Peggy Morrell.

• Diploma of Ivan Backer ’49, conferring the Bachelor of Arts, June 5, 1949.

• Ceramic tile depicting the rear of the Brethren’s House prior to removal of its porches in 1966. Gift of Robert P.L. Frick ’49.
