The Moravian College Wind Ensemble honored three members at its May 3 concert:

• Anthony Costantino ’04, Bethlehem, trombone, won the David Moritz Michael Award, named for one of Bethlehem’s earliest composers, a violinist and wind player (1751-1827) .

• Merci Hamilton ’02, Bethlehem, percussion, received the Band Director’s Award, which goes to a graduating senior.

• Erin Kutyla ’02, Blakely, clarinet, won the First Chair Award.

A Death in the Family

George A. Hurd Sr., husband of Priscilla Payne Hurd, chair of the Moravian College Board of Trustees, died May 7 after an extended illness. He was 85. Hurd was a retired executive of Bethlehem Steel and a board member of the Payne Foundation, which has given generous support to the College for many years.
