A proposal co-written by Diane Husic, professor of biology, for the Wild Resources Conservation Fund Grant Program, has been funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Using funds from this grant, a consortium of research partners (including students) from Moravian College, Lehigh University, Northampton Community College, the University of West Virginia, and U.S. governmental agencies will survey, study and monitor the biota and environment of the Lehigh Gap Nature Center. The information gained will allow effective management of the natural resources of the refuge and other parts of the Kittatinny Ridge, and the model developed there will be useful in many other settings.
