SOUTH HALL AND PETER HALL WINDOWS RESTORED
With a grant from the National Park Services, nineteen windows on the west elevation of South Hall and windows on the south side elevation of Peter Hall are undergoing restoration. Bob Doerr of Easton, Pa., a local, award-winning architectural restoration and general contracting expert, has been working on the windows since July, starting with the top windows of South Hall.
"All of the restoration is being done in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines of Rehabilitating Historic Buildings," said Kim Sherr, FMPC project manager. "The sashes are being removed, stripped, repaired, and repainted off-site—then reinstalled. Sills are being unclad, stripped, repaired, and repainted. Operable hardware and ornamental decoration also is being rehabilitated."
The project will be completed in September 2008.
