Betty Prince, Moravian field hockey coach from 1970 to 1987, was chair of the Physical Education Department during her tenure at Moravian. She advocated for equality for women athletes, and played a major role in organizing women athletics administrators in the Middle Atlantic Conference and in Lehigh Valley. She was one of the "founding mothers" of the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women. Betty passed away shortly after retiring, and the field was first dedicated at that time.
