Lt. Ashley Heiberger '00, adjunct instructor of sociology and staff lieutenant for the Bethlehem Police Department, recently spoke on policing issues at the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Justice Educators annual meeting in Pittsburgh. He is also the son of Thelma Scheifele Heiberger '41.
On April 21, 2009, Faramarz Farbod presented the Amnesty International lecture, "Israel and Palestine: What's Behind the Headlines?" at Moravian College. The lecture addressed the recent Israeli invasion of Gaza, providing historical context, as well as commentary on its causes and consequence for Gazans.
Articles and Op-EdsBernie Cantens, associate professor and chair of philosophy, published a critical review of Annuario filosofico: pragmatismo hispanico, Paloma Pérez-Ilzarbe and Jaime Nubiola (eds.) for transactions of the Charles S. Peirce Society 44 (4) (2008): pp. 739-747.
An op-ed, "Climate Action Will Cost and Benefit Consumers," by Diane Husic, professor and chair of biological sciences, appeared in April 18, 2009 issue of The Morning Call.
Bernie Cantens, associate professor and chair of philosophy, was invited to be a part of the Consulting Editorial Board of Inter-American Philosophic Review (IPR). He also was nominated for the Executive Council of the American Catholic Philosophical Association.
Faramarz Farbod, adjunct professor of political science, appeared as a guest on the hour-long, live, call-in program "Centering on Peace," which aired April 14, 2009 on Reading's BC-TV. The discussion was "Obama and the Middle East."
An article in the May-June 2009 issue of Audubon magazine features the Lehigh Gap Naturalists' Club led by Diane Husic, professor and chair of biological sciences. Her sons Corey and Joren are featured in the article, as well.
