Dr. Pei, who is the Tom and Margot Pritzker professor of government and director of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies at Claremont McKenna College, frequently appears on CNN and National Public Radio. His research focuses on democratization in developing countries, economic reform and governance in China, and U.S.- China relations. (Read more about Pei). After the lecture, students in the “International Issues in Management” class taught by Jim West, chair and professor of economics and business, and the “Chinese Art and Culture” class taught by Lisa Fischler, associate professor of political science, will attend a dinner with Dr. Pei, hosted by Dr. Kathy Thomforde and Dean Gordon Weil. “The INFOCUS committee is very pleased with the success of the program this first year,” said Deb Evans, director of constituent relations and chair of the INFOCUS committee. “As with all first-year programs, we had some challenges. But we presented a considerable amount of strong programming and we are very excited about moving forward.” Moravian College, Moravian Theological Seminary, and the Comenius Center have made a commitment to expand the IN FOCUS program to address one of four mega-problems—Poverty and Inequality, Sustainability, Health Care, and War and Peace—in a repeating four-year cycle.
