Alumni Connection

Moravian Hits the Big Apple

On Sept. 19, more than 40 Moravian College students ventured to New York City as part of the College’s professional networking event at the Union League Club, a private social club that dates back to the Civil War. The evening brought together dozens of alumni to discuss and advise students on their career interests and aspirations. The event was hosted by Moravian alumni F. James Hutchinson ’69, and featured remarks from President Bryon Grigsby ’90.

In addition to the alumni gathering, Moravian students split into two groups during the afternoon and visited the New York Stock Exchange and the Sports Illustrated offices in the Time & Life Building, located at Rockefeller Center.

Kraig Correll ’90, V.P. Investment Management at Barclay’s Wealth, facilitated the tour of the Stock Exchange. Eric Marquard ’86, deputy art director at Sports Illustrated, arranged for students to tour the editorial offices of the sports publication. During the visit, he also spoke about his journey to national publication, as well as his day-to-day responsibilities on staff.

Getting Dirty to Beautify Campus

The College hosted Student & Alumni Bulb Planting, a campus beautification project involving the Moravian community, on Sept. 14. Led by General Services Manager Randy Haffling, a group of students, alumni and faculty and their families came together to help beautify the campus. Hundreds of tulip bulbs were planted on the Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus, under the centuries-old trees behind Main Hall near the Benigna statue. We look forward to seeing them in their glory next spring.
