Ceremony and Rededication of Memorial Hall

Memorial
Hall, originally built in 1923 to honor the Veterans of World War
I, was re-dedicated on Saturday, May 19, in memory of all veterans
who have attended Moravian College. The ceremony was held during
Alumni Weekend and drew more than 75 veterans and friends to a program
featuring Jack Burke 56, President Ervin J. Rokke, Champ Storch
56, Ruth Roberts Halperin, professor emeritus of mathematics,
and William Matz 50, 53. The program concluded with
the playing of Taps and the unveiling of the plaque,
which reads, Built to honor the sons and daughters of Moravian
who served the Great War, 1914-1917, and dedicated May 19, 2001,
to remember all of the men and women who have served their country
in the armed services.
Afterwards,
many of the veterans in attendance walked as a group in the Alumni
Weekend Parade and stayed for the Reunion Lunch in Johnston Hall,
where they were again recognized for their service to our country.
Above,
veterans gather on the steps of Monocacy Hall following the dedication.
