The 2005 Moravian women’s tennis team competed in the conference championship match
for the 12th straight season. The Greyhounds were top seed in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament
and hosted the championship match. However, Moravian fell to second seed/defending champion Elizabethtown
College, 8-1, in the title contest just 24 hours after finding out teammate Sara Weller ’06 had
died after a 19-month battle with a rare form of cancer. The loss dropped the team’s record to
14-2 this fall.
Moravian has won seven of the last 10 conference championships, and the program has
posted a record of 174-17 since the start of the 1994 season.
