Despite a snow
cancellation and change of date for the event, our alumni showed
wonderful support for students by coming out
to the second annual Student-Alumni Career Networking Reception.
More than 50 alumni came to speak with students about what their
career field is like and give pointers on how to maneuver through
the job market. This opportunity is especially important for students
who are facing a tough job market as they leave college. There
were some great connections made, and good advice handed out. One
freshman met with an alum in the graphic-design field and was able
to secure a part-time job. A senior majoring in political science
has started a conversation with an alum, which may lead to an internship
and then a future job opportunity in public affairs. This year’s
event will be held in the fall, November 11, so please come out
to help us make even more success stories.
