Right on Track

The Moravian College womenís track and field team captured its 12th straight Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championship, and head coach Doug Pollard was named the Coach of the Year on the third and final day of the 2004 MAC Championships, hosted May 1 by Messiah College. Moravian won the meet with a team score of 160.33ó35.5 points ahead of second-place Susquehanna University.

The Greyhounds also captured their ninth straight MAC Indoor Track and Field Championship, taking home the title at the February 28, 2004, meet hosted by Susquehanna. The Greyhounds had a team score of 146 points; Elizabethtown College was second with 92 points. Pollard was named the Indoor Coach of the Year, and freshman Suzanne Tamlyn earned Rookie of the Year honors from the conference.

Pollard has served as head coach of the menís and womenís track teams since track was re-introduced in 1984. He has guided 122 athletes to NCAA indoor and outdoor national championships, with 57 earning All-American honors. Pollardís teams have won 11 indoor MAC team titles and 14 outdoor titles. Eight of the nine national champion athletes in Moravian history have been track athletes coached by Pollard.
