October 1998
"Bearly Lovable: Teddy Bear Bonanza," a program
for children and families performed by Dave Fry and Barbara Pearson,
will be held on Saturday, October 17, at 3:00 p.m., in Moravian College’s
Foy Concert Hall, Main and Church streets, Bethlehem.
Children are invited to bring their favorite teddy bear
to the performance. Dave Fry will play and sing old and new favorites
while Barbara Pearson will involve children in playing games, singing,
clapping, and dancing. Dorney Park’s Berenstain Bears will make
an appearance and welcome children to the show.
Dave Fry has been entertaining Lehigh Valley audiences
for more than 20 years. He tells stories, sings and performs with his
banjo, guitar and mandolin. Fry has entertained a generation of children
with his wit and repertoire of folk, rock, swing, traditional and bluegrass
numbers.
Barbara Pearson, another favorite among children, is a
dancer and choreographer. She uses early American, ethnic, historical
and contemporary dances and games to engage children in learning and
fun. Pearson creates dances, shows and festivals in schools across the
state. Her "Dance and Play with Barbara Pearson" has been
presented at Musikest for more than a decade.
The Berenstain Bears are Dorney Park’s most popular
attraction amongst its youngest guests. The characters are from the
pages of the best-selling Berenstain Bears children’s book series
created by Stan and Jan Berenstain.
Admission to the play-party is $5 for adults and $3 for
children 12 and under. Advance tickets are available at the College’s
Music Department and at the door prior to the show. The program is part
of the Children’s Concert Series, sponsored by Joyce Pharo through
the Moravian College Music Alliance, the Donley Foundation and Dorney
Park & Wildwater Kingdom. For more information call (610) 861-1650.
