Acclaimed author, Sigrid Nunez will perform a reading
of excerpts from her works at a special visiting writer presentation
at Moravian College. The reading will be held on Tuesday, November 24,
at 8:00 p.m. in the United Brethren’s Church Room, Haupert Union
Building.
Praised as a "gifted storyteller" by the Chicago
Tribune, Sigrid Nunez’s most recent book, MITZ: the Marmoset of
Bloomsbury, delivers an enchanting fictional memoir about Leonard and
Virginia Woolf’s pet marmoset. Sigrid Nunez is the author of the
novels A Feather on the Breath of God and Naked Sleeper. She is the
recipient of several literary prizes, including a Whiting Writer’s
Award. A Feather on the Breath of God was shortlisted for the 1995 PEN/Hemingway
Award for First Fiction. She teaches creative writing at Columbia University
and is also on the faculty of the 1998 Bread Laf Writers’ Conference.
She lives in New York City and is working on a fourth book.
The reading, sponsored by the Zinzendorf Society, is free
and open to the public. A reception and book signing will follow the
reading. It is sponsored by the Manuscript, Moravian College’s
student literary magazine.
