Moravian College announced that a vigil will be held to
celebrate the life and times of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday,
January 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Prosser auditorium. The College Chaplain,
Rev. J. Christian Giesler, will lead the vigil. The service will be
structured so that it provides meaning for people who come from diverse
faith backgrounds.
The vigil will reflect on the life and mission of Rev.
Martin Luther King, Jr., who lost his life in the struggle for civil
rights. During the vigil, a Moravian College student will read the famous,
"I have a dream" speech.
On Monday, January 20, at 12:00 noon, Dr. John Reynolds,
Professor of Political Science at Moravian College, will provide remarks
and lead Moravian College students and others in a "moment of silence"
in the Haupert Union Building.
The Prosser Auditorium is located in the Haupert Union
Building on Moravian’s Main Street Campus at the corner of Locust
and Monocacy streets. The vigil and the moment of silence are being
held for the entire College community and the public is welcome. For
