Bernard J. Story of Bethlehem was recently promoted by
Moravian College to the new position of vice president for enrollment.
Story will guide an effort to integrate an admissions-based marketing
approach as he continues to spearhead the student recruitment and financial
aid efforts of the College.
Story joined the admission department after graduating
from Moravian College in 1980. He was promoted to director of admission
in 1988 and was named dean of admission and financial aid in 1994. "We
have made this change to recognize the importance of Bernie Story’s
leadership role, both internally and externally. He has clearly demonstrated
the expertise, dedication, and senior management know-how that more
than qualify him for this new position and its responsibilities,"
said Moravian College president, Dr. Ervin J. Rokke.
A 1980 Moravian graduate, Story serves as Chair of the
Middle States Regional Council of the College Board. He is a member
of the National Association of College Admission Counselors, the Pennsylvania
Association of Secondary and College Admission Counselors, and the College
Entrance Examination Board. He was elected to membership in the Moravian
College Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership society.
A 1976 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School, Story
is active in a variety of local youth organizations. He is a Vice President
of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Bethlehem. In
another personnel move related to the integration of Moravian’s
marketing and student recruitment initiative, James Mackin has been
named as Director of Admissions. Mackin will guide the integration of
the two component programs, admissions and financial aid, of Moravian’s
student recruiting efforts.
Mackin has been a member of Moravian’s admissions
staff since 1990 serving as associate director of admissions. He coordinated
transfer admission, international admission, and athletic recruitment.
In addition, Mackin served as an assistant basketball coach from 1990
to 1995. Mackin began his career in admissions in 1985 at Allentown
College where he worked before joining the Moravian staff.
Mackin received his B.A. in Politics from Allentown College
in 1980, and completed a Masters in Business Administration with an
emphasis in Finance and Marketing at Wilkes University.
