News Release
April 1999
Moravian College is traveling abroad this May on a customized
two-week study tour to Ireland and Northern Ireland. The focus will
be on "holy places" defined as islands, mountains, wells,
and churches (both early and modern). In their totality, these sites
represent pagan Celtic and early and modern Christian spirituality.
These "holy places" have served as inspiration to the literary
imagination.
Lectures by authorities will be presented on Irish antiquities
and Irish literature. Overnight stays (at least two nights each) are
planned in Tralee, Galway, Sligo, Armagh, and Dublin.
The study-tour group will be accompanied by Moravian faculty
members Dr. Donald St. John, Professor of Religion, and Dr. Joel Wingard,
Associate Professor of English. Students as well as non-students are
welcome on the tour. Please call the Division of Continuing Studies
for more information at 610-861-1400.
