The Moravian College Choir, Women’s Chorus, and
Moravian Chamber Symphony will be performing in concert at Moravian
College’s Foy Concert Hall on Saturday May 1 at 8:00 p.m. and
Sunday, May 2 at 4:00 p.m. The theme of the concert is "A Slice
of Vienna." The program is comprised of music by composers who
lived in Vienna.
The Moravian College Women’s Chorus, directed by
Paula Ring Zerkle, will be performing Three Canons and "Alleluja"
from Exsultate Jubiltate, both by Mozart, and Selections from Litanie
Della Madonna by Haydn. The "Alleluja" from Exsultate Jubiltate
features Jamie Reese, soprano, and Susan Carr, Christa Mosher, and Evangeline
Dollemore, solo trio. The Haydn features Nora Cheatham, Clara Thorne,
and Jennifer Episcopio, solo trio.
The Moravian College Choir, directed by Paula Ring Zerkle,
will perform Two Sacred Motets by Bruckner, and the Mass in F Major
by Schubert. The Mass in F Major, written when Schubert was only fifteen
years old, features Yvonne Robinson, soprano; Tara McFadden, alto; Gregory
Oaten, tenor; and Eduardo Azzatti, bass.
The Moravian Chamber Symphony, directed by George Corbett,
will perform Adagio, Moderato from Elgar’s Cello Concerto, op.
85, featuring Jennifer Smull, cello. Jennifer Smull, a junior music
performance major at Moravian College, is the winner of the 1999 Concerto
Competition. The Chamber Symphony will also perform Symphony No. 1 in
C major, op. 21 by Beethoven.
The Moravian College Choir, Women’s Chorus and Moravian
Chamber Symphony invite you to join in the excitement of Vienna. The
Viennese Pastry Shop, located on Main Street in Bethlehem, will be providing
Viennese deserts for the reception following the performance.
"A Slice of Vienna" is sure to offer wonderful
music and delicious Viennese deserts.

4 p.m. in Foy Concert Hall, Church Street Campus, Moravian College at
Church and Main streets in historic Bethlehem. General admission is
$5.
