Moravian Theological Seminary will hold its commencement
on Saturday, May 15, at 4:00 p.m. in Central Moravian Church. The commencement
marks the Seminary’s 192nd year of service in the preparation
of men and women for the ministry.
Fifteen students are scheduled to receive degrees at the
ceremony, while two students are scheduled to receive certificates in
theological studies. The degrees and certificates will be conferred
by Dr. Ervin J. Rokke, president of Moravian College and Theological
Seminary.
Margaret Wellert Braden ’99, who was elected by
the graduating class, will give the graduate address.
The commencement speaker will be F. Robert Huth, vice
president for administration and chief financial officer of Middlebury
College in Vermont. His address is entitled "Leadership is a Spiritual
Experience." Huth was senior vice president for administration
at Moravian College and served in the College’s administration
from 1992 through 1998. He presently serves as Eastern Association of
College and University Business Officers board secretary and is a member
of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania
Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was recognized as an Outstanding
College Administrator by the Moravian College fraternity Omicron Delta
Kappa in 1997 and Outstanding Young Man in America in 1982.
Moravian Theological Seminary is the seminary of the Moravian
Church in the United States. The seminary awards three degrees: Master
of Divinity, Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling, and Master of Arts
in Theological Studies. The institution also awards certificates in
theological studies.
The seminary’s principal mission is to prepare students
for a variety of Christian ministries.
