Moravian College Celebrates Alumni Weekend and Its Founding Anniversary

Alumni returning to Moravian College for reunion and celebration will enjoy an exciting schedule of events and entertainment planned for Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22.

On Friday, May 21, participants will tee off for Golf Classic XIX , followed by a reception and clambake. Tours of the Main Street Campus will provide the opportunity for nostalgic memories and updates on renovations and expansions. A Welcome Back festive barbecue dinner will be served under tent at the Church Street Campus, and later a tour will be conducted through the Church Street campus.

Also planned for Friday is the traditional Founders Day Moravian Lovefeast to take place in Peter Hall at the Church Street campus. At that time, the newly restored stained glass windows will be dedicated and David Crane, the stained glass artist responsible for the windows restoration project, will be the guest speaker.

Saturday's continental breakfast buffet is followed by a full day's activities, including a mini-course "Making the World Wide Web Work for You", given by the library staff members in Memorial Hall. This overview will explain how to select the appropriate source for informational needs, and how to effectively use a search engine or directory.

The day's activities include a reunion parade of classes led by the award-wining Easton High School, Saucon Valley High School and Shawnee Intermediate School bands. At the grand reunion luncheon the Medallion of Merit will be awarded to Richard T. Kingston, Jr., an oral and maxillofacial specialist in Bethlehem, and a member of the class of 1977, in recognition of his service to Moravian College, and the Alumni Association.

Children's activities are planned in the tent on the quad, plus free horse and buggy rides. Child-care services will be available by licensed daycare personnel. Cost is $7.00 per hour for each family. Advance reservations are required.

Class reunion photos; an Athletics "Family" reunion addressed by Richard Dull, Athletic Director; a Moravian College Alumni Choir "Family" reunion; plus campus tours round out a full day's schedule.

A gala reception highlights an evening of dinner, dessert buffet, and entertainment in the Haupert Union Building. Music will be provided by a deejay in the Pavilion and played by Moravian students.
