Moravian
College will unveil 22 new townhouse-style units at a ribbon-cutting
ceremony and open house on Thursday, August 26, at 11:30 a.m. The Hillside
Complex, located on Locust Street between Geissinger Street and Mauch
Chunk Road, will house approximately100 students beginning this semester.
Charles J. Peischl, chair of the Moravian College Board of Trustees,
will cut the ceremonial ribbon. After the brief ceremony, a sampling
of the Hillside Complex residence halls will be open for viewing by
the public.

Mayor Don Cunningham and city Council members are expected attended
the ceremony along with the Moravian College community, local residents,
and construction company representatives.
The Hillside Complex is comprised of 22 townhouse style
units housing 100 students plus one resident assistant. Each townhouse
has five single bedrooms and two bathrooms, with living room and kitchen
areas. The 22 units are arranged in four groupings, a set of 9 and two
sets of 5 townhouses on the south side of Laurel Street and one set
of 3 townhouses on the north side of Laurel Street. As part of the Hillside
Complex, a Recreational Quadrangle was constructed that contains volleyball,
horseshoe and quoit areas. The quadrangle also provides picnic tables,
benches, and grills.
The team of individuals responsible for coordinating the
construction of the Hillside Complex include: Matt Hartzler, project
manager, Warfel Construction; Pam Hoadley, project manager, Moravian
College; Barry Pell, principal architect, Spillman Farmer Architects;
Tom Maloney, project architect, Spillman Farmer Architects; Bob Eisenhauer,
manager of structural trades, Moravian College; Neil Reenock, manager
of mechanical trades, Moravian College; and Dave Sunderland, construction
site supervisor, Warfel Construction.
