The Moravian College Music Institute will join the Mexican
Cultural Center of Philadelphia in celebrating Mexican Independence
Day with the third annual festival at Moravian College on Saturday,
September 18, noon to 4:00 p.m. The musical festival will feature a
variety of performances showcasing regional Mexican dances, music and
song. The public is invited to sample the music, dance, and food of
Mexico.
The celebration will include performances by Grupo Folklorico
de Oazaca, a dance group, Soledad Flores, a Rancheras singer, and Ramon
Hernandez who sings traditional Mexican songs.
The celebration will culminate with the official ceremony
of El Grito de Delores or "cry for independence," performed
by the Honorable Manuel Lombera, Mexican Consulate, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The festival is free and open to the public. It will be
held in Foy Concert Hall at the College’s Church Street Campus
– Church and Main streets, Bethlehem. For more event information,
