The
Moravian College Music Department, the Music Alliance, and Arts and
Lectures have joined to present a Master Class and concert featuring
pianist Robert Taub. At the Master Class, Mr. Taub will coach three
Moravian College students: Kristy Bredin (’02), JoLynn Dentith
(’00), and Gary Stokes (DCS, ’00). The class will be held
Thursday, Sept. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Peter Hall.
The first of Mr. Taub’s three concerts at Moravian
this semester will be held Thursday, September 30, at 8:00 p.m. in Peter
Hall. The program will feature four piano sonatas by Beethoven, op.
2 no.1, op. 27 no. 1 "quasi una fantasia," op. 78, and op.
53 "Waldstein". Mr. Taub will present a pre-concert talk at
7:15 PM and a post-concert discussion following the concert. Taub will
also perform at Moravian on October 28 and November 11.
Mr. Taub, the Artist-in-Residence at the Institute for
Advanced Study in Princeton since 1994, has performed with many major
symphonies throughout the world and has participated in numerous major
festivals. Solo recitals include Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles,
Seattle, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, and
Manila. He has recorded the complete Beethoven piano sonatas
for VOX and is writing a book on the complete sonatas, to be published
by Princeton University Press.
Peter Hall is located at Moravian College's Church Street
Campus at Main and Church streets in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. For the
recital, all seats are $10. Proceeds go to the Music Alliance Piano
Fund. Admission to the master class is $5
